Jazeera Airways signs MoU for 20 A320neo and 8 A321neo

During a press conference held Tuesday at the Dubai Airshow 2021, Jazeera Airways and Airbus announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding for the acquisition of 20 A320neo and 8 A321neo aircraft, plus purchase rights for a further five.
This will enable the Kuwaiti airline to more than double the size of its fleet to 35 aircraft by 2026.
Jazeera Airways Chairman Marwan Boodai stressed that the airline «has emerged stronger from the pandemic by returning to profit in the third quarter» and that they have «big expansion plans that will further enhance our contribution to Kuwait’s economy, particularly in the travel sector.»
«We are proud to extend our partnership with Jazeera Airways through this new agreement that will add 28 Airbus aircraft to their already 100% Airbus fleet,» commented Christian Scherer, Airbus Commercial Director and Head of Airbus International.
The CEO of Jazeera Airways also highlighted that considering both the A320neo and A321neo will give them the flexibility to expand their network to medium and long-haul destinations from Kuwait.
The airline’s current network covers 36 cities.
According to data obtained by Aviacionline through Cirium, during November Jazeera Airways will have 230,985 seats on offer, which is 12.4% less than in November 2019, pre-pandemic. But capacity (in ASK) is 11.7% higher.
