The route to Tenerife South (TSF) changes from seasonal service to year-round operation with four weekly flights and will also operate two weekly flights to Madrid (MAD), in both cases from Reykjavik (KEF) and in 184-seat Boeing 757 and 160-seat Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft with the new cabins offered by the company.

Icelandair also offers seasonal flights to Barcelona (BCN) and charters to Alicante (ALC).

«Besides the famous Northern Lights, numerous whale-watching options, and the unique beauty of the Icelandic landscapes, the Nordic country continues to offer cutting-edge attractions such as the new Sky Lagoon, the incredible geothermal lagoon in the Icelandic capital, and Fly Over Iceland, a completely immersive attraction that allows visitors to ‘fly over the main Icelandic landscapes,» said Eva Bretos, Director of Discover the World Spain, Icelandair’s representative office in Spain.

    PLAY

Iceland’s new low-cost airline operator continues its commitment to Spain, and during the summer of 2022 will launch flights to Madrid (MAD), its seventh destination in the country after Alicante (ALC), Gran Canaria (LPA), Tenerife – South (TSF), Barcelona (BCN), Malaga (AGP) and Palma de Mallorca (PMI).

«It is really delightful to add more destinations in Europe that will strengthen our route schedule. We are confident that these destinations will boost PLAY’s operations and that our flights between Iceland to other cities will be popular with those living there» said Birgir Jónsson, CEO of PLAY.

Recovery of the Spain – Iceland market

According to data obtained by Aviacionline through Aena Statistics, 109,374 passengers and more than 4.3 tons of cargo were flown between Spain and Iceland between January and October 2021 in 910 air operations.
