    Ryanair in 2019 was the largest air operator in Spain As per data obtained by Aviacionline through Aena Estadísticas the company mobilized 52,887,878 passengers in 311,996 air operations. For the 2022 boreal summer season, the largest airline will make its biggest offer from the main Spanish airports.

    Madrid (MAD)

    From the Spanish capital, it has announced its largest-ever schedule with a total of 59 routes. This will include three new ones to Billund, La Palma, and Venice. Promotional fares start from 19.99 EUR

    Ryanair from Madrid (MAD) will have 13 aircraft based by the boreal summer of 2022. This means the investment of USD 1.3 billion, a support of 400 dedicated aviation jobs and more than 5,000 direct jobs in the Spanish capital.

    «As Spain’s number one airline, Ryanair is leading the recovery of the country’s tourism and economic growth in the summer of 2022 thanks to our largest ever schedule offering Madrileños and tourists 59 routes (3 new) to exciting destinations such as Billund, La Palma, and Venice,» said Dara Brady, Ryanair’s Director of Marketing, Digital and Communications.

    Catalonia

    Ryanair expects to offer a 4% increase in supply at Catalan airports higher than in 2019. The company expects to mobilize 7.8 million passengers in the region.

    The largest airline expects to incorporate six new routes. Four of them will be from Barcelona to Frankfurt Hahn, La Palma, Lviv, and Perugia, and two from Girona to Helsinki and Nuremberg.

    Ryanair from Catalonia will have 15 aircraft based and an offer of 103 routes by the boreal summer of 2022, this means the investment of USD 1,500 million, a support of 450 jobs dedicated to aviation, and more than 6,600 direct jobs in the Catalan region.

    Ryanair maintains its commitment to Spain

    The company continues to recover after the pandemic crisis and remains committed to promoting tourism in Spain, Ryanair has asked the Spanish government for measures to contribute to the tourism sector among which are:

    • Reducing taxes on air transport.
    • The guarantee of fair environmental taxes on short-haul flights compared to long-haul flights.
    • Not passing on Covid-19 costs from airports to passengers.

    Ryanair expects the arrival of 210 Boeing 737-8200 «Gamechanger» aircraft, a model characterized by 4% more seats, 16% less fuel consumption, and up to 40% fewer noise emissions.
