    This Thursday (27), Virgin Atlantic began commercial operations of its new Airbus A330neo on the London (LHR) – Boston (BOS) route. This new generation of aircraft will replace the current fleet of A330-300s over the next three years.

    The VS 11 flight was flown on an Airbus A330-900neo registered G-VJAZ and christened «Billie Holiday,» which took off from Heathrow Airport (LHR) at 17:24 local time and landed at Logan International Airport (BOS) at 19:24, after six hours and 37 minutes.

    Virgin Atlantic and its joint venture partner Delta are the only airlines to operate Airbus A330neo aircraft at Boston (BOS), offering exclusively transatlantic services. The British airline plans to incorporate this new aircraft on Tampa (TPA) from November 2 and Miami (MIA) from November 24.

    London/Heathrow – Boston Flight VS 11 LHR 16:25 – BOS 20:20.
    Boston – London/Heathrow Flight VS 12 BOS 22:50 – LHR 09:30+1.

    A330neo service data at Boston (BOS)
    • In November, three flights per week will be offered.
    • December increases to four times a week
    • Between January-March service increases to six flights per week.

    Virgin Atlantic’s new Airbus A330neo has incorporated the company’s new cabin products for this new aircraft and has the following configuration: two «The Retreat Suite» and «The Loft» lounge, 30 Upper Class seats, 46 Premium Economy and 184 in Economy. The British airline expects to have three units of this model by the end of this year and to complete delivery of a further 13 aircraft between 2023 -2026.

    Airbus A330-900neo

    Initially all Airbus A330neo will be based at its main hub at Heathrow Airport (LHR), there are currently no plans to operate this aircraft at its hub in Manchester (MAN).

    • 9 Airbus A350-1000 (3 orders pending)
    • 17 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner
