    To meet the growing demand in the cargo sector and strengthen exports and imports to Colombia and Ecuador, Avianca Cargo expands its network in the United States with the start of a new cargo destination to Los Angeles (LAX).

    The new route will operate Quito (UIO) – Bogota (BOG) – Los Angeles (LAX) with twice weekly flights on Airbus A330F. This service also seeks to increase the competitiveness of the flower industry, since 75% and 80% of the cargo exported by the airline from Ecuador and Colombia, respectively, corresponds to the flower market.

    The company’s cargo schedule to the United States includes services to Miami (MIA), which during the Valentine’s Day season moved 18,000 tons of cargo to this airport on more than 300 flights operated from Colombia and Ecuador.

    With the CEIV Fresh certification granted by the International Air Transport Association (IATA), Avianca Cargo guarantees strict handling of time- and temperature-sensitive shipments, such as flowers and other products like fruit and fish, which account for another 20% of Colombia’s exports.

    The company has a growth plan that will offer new flights operated on Airbus A330F aircraft, the company expects to increase approximately 300 cargo operations per month from Colombia to other destinations.
