After three years, Delta resumes non-stop flights to Cuba

On April 10, Delta Air Lines resumed non-stop flights between Miami (MIA) and Havana (HAV): the airline now offers 19 destinations in the Caribbean for the 2023 summer season. The airline’s last operation in Cuba was on March 29, 2020, service was suspended in the wake of the COVID-19 health crisis.

Delta files request to delay flights to Cuba

Flight DL 1787 was operated in Boeing 737 Next Generation registered with registration N3759, which took off from Miami International Airport (MIA) at 10:43 local time and landed at José Martí International Airport (HAV) at 11:53, after 52 minutes.

With the restart of this route, Delta will compete with American Airlines and will be the second airline to operate in this market, the return of the company expects to benefit consumers with a greater supply of tickets at affordable fares. In addition, Delta will provide customers with connections to more than 10 airports through Miami (MIA) with 203 weekly flights.

• Flight DL 1790 HAV 16:30 – MIA 17:40 daily flights.

The route is operated on Boeing 737-800 NG aircraft seating 160 passengers in three classes (16 First Class Domestic/36 Delta Comfort+/108 Main Cabin) and promotional fares are available from USD 221 roundtrip.

Delta previously applied to the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) to delay the resumption of the Atlanta (ATL) – Havana (HAV) route for the 2023/2024 northern winter season. The carrier expects passenger demand to secondary destinations to recover to make this service commercially feasible.
