Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) resumes nonstop operations between Copenhagen (CPH) and Bangkok (BKK) after a 10-year absence from the Thai market to meet strong demand for leisure travel.

«The Bangkok route will offer a perfect entry point to wider Thailand and will be a great option for both business and leisure travelers. Bangkok is a vibrant hotspot for international business and the country has topped several rankings as the world’s most popular tourist destination for its beautiful beaches, lush jungles and extraordinary Thai cuisine«, said Anko van der Werff, SAS president and chief executive officer.

SAS‘ last operation to Bangkok (BKK) was on April 7, 2013 on an Airbus A340-300-operated service, after operating more than 60 years of uninterrupted service to Thailand. At that time, the airline decided to suspend operations to the Thai capital due to high operating costs and growing competition with Thai Airways and Middle Eastern operators, which began to have a strong presence in major Scandinavian cities.

With the reactivation of this service, SAS will compete with Thai Airways, which flies daily on this route operating Boeing 777-300ERs.
