TAP Air Portugal Expands Spanish Network with New Non-Stop Flights to Mallorca

On May 20, TAP Air Portugal expanded its services to Spain, inaugurating non-stop flights between Lisbon (LIS) and Palma de Mallorca (PMI). This move makes PMI the airline’s eleventh destination in Spain. Additional services are planned to the Balearic Islands, adding Ibiza (IBZ) and soon, Menorca (MAH) to their itinerary.

Several high-profile figures, including Francisco Pita, Commercial Director of ANA Aeroportos de Portugal; Nuno Sousa, Sales Director of TAP, and a number of airline employees and airport staff, attended a ceremony celebrating the new route.

The inaugural Flight TP 1150 was operated with an Airbus A319 registered as CS-TTS. It took off from Humberto Delgado Airport (LIS) at 10:32 local time and landed at Palma de Mallorca Airport (PMI) at 13:03.

Strategic Expansion to Spain
Data from Cirium, obtained by Aviacionline, indicates that TAP Air Portugal will offer 5,092 weekly seats between Portugal and the Balearic Islands during the high summer season.

Palma de Mallorca (PMI) – Lisbon (LIS)

• Flight TP 1151 PMI 11:45 – LIS 12:45 Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday.
• Flight TP 1151 PMI 12:20 – LIS 13:20 Tuesday.
• Flight TP 1151 PMI 13:25 – LIS 14:25 Saturday.

The route will primarily be serviced by Airbus A320neo and A320ceo aircraft, with 168 available seats. On Wednesdays, the TAP Express Embraer 190 will operate the route, offering 106 seats. Promotional round-trip fares start at EUR 350.

According to Aena Estadísticas, TAP Air Portugal carried 528,038 passengers and 411.8 tons of cargo between Spain and Portugal from January – April 2023, over 5,553 operations. The Portuguese carrier is a dominant force in this market, leading in seats per kilometer offered (ASK).

Expanded Coverage in Spain

TAP’s Spanish network now includes non-stop flights to several key destinations such as Alicante, Bilbao, Seville, Valencia, Barcelona, Gran Canaria, Madrid, Malaga, Menorca, Palma de Mallorca, Tenerife – South, and Ibiza.
