    Etihad Airways resumes 787 deliveries after three years

    Etihad Airways has added a new Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner to its fleet following the last delivery three years ago. The airline expects to take delivery of more aircraft in the coming months to expand its growing global network.

    Etihad’s engineering team performed a thorough overhaul of the aircraft to prepare it for entry into commercial service. Etihad’s 787-10 has a capacity of 336 seats in two classes (32 Business Class/304 Economy).

    The new 787-10 is registered as A6-BMJ. The aircraft took off from Charleston Airport at 13:31 local time and landed at Abu Dhabi International Airport at 11:05 the following day, where the Etihad team met it. On October 15, the A6-BMJ performed its first commercial service with a flight between Abu Dhabi and Manchester.

    «The arrival of our latest 787 Dreamliner underlines our passion to grow this year by improving the quality of our customers’ experience and the reach of our network. It is all part of our 2030 vision to support our growth, as underlined by the new destinations to Osaka, Copenhagen and Dusseldorf that we began operating two weeks ago,» said Antonoaldo Neves, Etihad Airways Chief Executive Officer.

    In addition to the arrival of A6-BMJ, the airline expects to take delivery of three more 787-9s bringing its 787 fleet to 43 units, the current fleet has an average age of almost six years. The airline has an order for 11 787-9s and 20 787-10s.

    The last Dreamliner delivery the airline took delivery of was October 13, 2020. The 787 is Etihad’s primary aircraft for its long-haul operations.

    Etihad’s 787-10 Dreamliner schedule currently includes services to Amsterdam, Barcelona, Bangkok, Bangkok, Dublin, Phuket, Seoul-Incheon, Kuala Lumpur, London-Heathrow, Madrid, Manchester, Maldives, Manil, Munich, Singapore and Vienna.
