With a current operation of 44 A220-300s, airBaltic holds the title as the world’s largest operator of the model. Since becoming the launch customer in 2016, airBaltic has transitioned to an exclusive A220-300 fleet, a strategic move that underscores its commitment to efficiency and sustainability.

    A Milestone for airBaltic

«Today is a landmark event for airBaltic, as we set our sights on a fleet of 100 aircraft by 2030,» announced Martin Gauss, President and CEO. «The A220-300 has been instrumental in our success, and we are excited to strengthen our partnership with Airbus through this new order.»

Airbus’s Chief Commercial Officer, Christian Scherer, expressed gratitude to airBaltic for their continued support, noting the A220’s significant role in the airline’s growth and the benefits it delivers across performance, passenger experience, and environmental efficiency.»Thank you to airBaltic for being such an ambassador for the A220 with this repeat order. The A220 has been the instrument for airBaltic in its success and growth thus far and we are particularly proud to be extending this partnership well into the future with this latest order”, said Christian Scherer, Airbus Chief Commercial Officer and Head of International.

“The A220 offers a unique capability in terms of range, performance, and not to forget, passenger appeal. It is a gamechanger for our customers in this important market segment, which we are serving with less fuel-burn, lower emissions and noise, making the A220 a global citizen of choice.”

The A220-300 is a major competitor in its class with capabilities of carrying 120 to 150 passengers for 3,450 nautical miles (6,400 kilometers). It is designed for a 25% reduction in fuel burn and CO2 emissions, offering an enhanced flying experience with its spacious interior.
