Breeze Airways plans to fly to Ireland with its Airbus A220-300 fleet
Breeze Airways plans to embark on transatlantic flights with its fleet of Airbus A220-300 aircraft. This project came to light during an interview conducted by the company’s founder, David Neeleman, with Canadian media.
During the interview, Neeleman revealed that the airline has requested approval from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to operate international flights in Europe and the Caribbean during the peak season.
Neeleman did not specify the possible airports from which these flights will depart, but the options are limited considering the 6,297 kilometers of range offered by the A220-300. The possibilities are focused on New York and Boston, and the chosen destination would be Dublin, Ireland, with respective flight distances of 4,800 and 5,100 kilometers.
This milestone holds significant importance for both Breeze and Airbus. For the airline, it signifies the launch of its first international routes, while for Airbus, it builds greater confidence in the A220 program.
Breeze Airways was founded in 2018 and commenced operations in 2021 with a fleet comprising second-hand Embraer E190 and E195 aircraft. By the end of the same year, the airline received its first Airbus A220-300. As of today, Breeze Airways operates a fleet of 35 aircraft: 7 Embraer E-190, 10 E-195, and 18 Airbus A220-300.
