Ciao Canucks!: ITA Airways lands in Canada

ITA Airways continues to boost its intercontinental network with the start of its non-stop flights between Rome-Fiumicino and Toronto-Pearson, the company’s first service in Canada, where it will compete with Air Canada and Air Transat.

Flight AZ650 was operated by an Airbus A330neo registered EI-HJR and christened “Gianmarco Pozzeco”. The aircraft took off from Leonardo da Vinci International Airport at 10:36 local time and landed at Lester Pearson International Airport at 13:23, after eight hours and 46 minutes.

“With our direct flight, we expect to carry up to 2 million Italian-Canadian passengers who travel between the two countries each year. The connection will also allow our passengers to have access not only to point-to-point traffic, but also to other destinations within both countries, thus combining tourism and business travel, confirming once again ITA Airways’ commitment to providing optimal travel solutions to its customers,” said Emiliana Limosani, Chief Commercial Officer of ITA Airways and Chief Executive Officer of Volare.

• Rome – Toronto Flight AZ 650 FCO 10:15 – YYZ 14:05
• Toronto – Rome Flight AZ 651 YYZ 17:15 – FCO 07:50+1

Route details

• It will initially start with six weekly flights.
• Between June 1 and September 30, daily flights will be offered.
• In October the route is reduced to five weekly flights.
• This service will be available during the summer season.

The route will be operated on Airbus A330-900neo aircraft with a capacity of 291, divided in three-class seats (30 Business Class/24 Premium Economy/237 Economy), and Airbus A330-200 aircraft with a capacity of 256 seats, also offered in three-classes: (20 Business Class/17 Premium Economy/237 Economy).

ITA Airways currently serves North America flying to New York JFK, Boston, Chicago O’Hare, Washington Dulles, Miami, Los Angeles and San Francisco.
