GOL Confirms Launch of Flights Between Brazil and Costa Rica

As we announced yesterday, GOL Linhas Aéreas confirmed this Tuesday the launch of a new route connecting Sao Paulo/Guarulhos with San José, the capital of Costa Rica.

The flights will start on November 12, with departures from Sao Paulo on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays at 13:55, arriving in San José at 18:25. The return will be at 20:40, landing in Guarulhos at 7:10 the next day. GOL will fly between Sao Paulo and San José with Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft with a capacity for 176 passengers.

GOL currently serves 12 international destinations across the Americas and continues to strengthen its presence outside the country with optimism: at the end of March, we started our operations in Colombia and recently announced Aruba as our newest destination in the Caribbean,” said Rafael Araújo, GOL’s Director of Air Network Planning. “The inclusion of Costa Rica in our network fills us with joy and reiterates the company’s focus on continuous international expansion,” he added, also highlighting the unprecedented nature of the flight.

Silvio Costa Filho, Brazil’s Minister of Ports and Airports, said that “among his priorities is increasing Brazil’s connectivity with the world. Therefore, the news that we will have a new flight connecting Brazil with Costa Rica means another gateway for foreigners wishing to visit our country and will certainly bring benefits to Brazilian tourism.”

For his part, William Rodríguez, Costa Rica’s Minister of Tourism noted that “Brazil is one of the high-potential emerging markets we have been aiming to enter for some years, and having an air connection was a priority.”

In 2023, more than 120,000 South American tourists visited Costa Rica, and a significant proportion of that number are from Brazil.
