Copa Airlines Resumes Flights to Cucuta

After suspending operations in 2016, Copa Airlines announces the relaunch of its route between Panama and Cúcuta with three weekly flights starting December 6, 2021.

«We are pleased to once again operate to this destination, being the only airline that will connect Cúcuta with the rest of the continent, offering our passengers the possibility of getting to know this wonderful city. The addition of this route is part of Copa Airlines’ commitment to being a key player in the development and reactivation of the tourism sector in Latin America,» said Paola Castaño, commercial manager for Copa Airlines in Colombia.

Cúcuta is a Colombian city of 711,000 inhabitants located on the northeastern border of Colombia, bordering the states of Táchira and Zulia in Venezuela. This service aims to capture the large Colombian-Venezuelan traffic in the region, potentially serving a market of around 900,000 inhabitants.

  • Panama Tocumen – Cúcuta CM490 PTY 09:56PM – CUC 11:23PM Three weekly flights operated on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays with Boeing 737-700 Next Generation aircraft.
  • Cúcuta – Panama Tocumen CM491 CUC 04:34AM – PTY 6:04AM Three weekly flights operated on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday with Boeing 737-700 Next Generation aircraft.

The schedules benefit passengers with Copa Airlines’ bank of connections through its «Hub of the Americas» located in Tocumen, where they will be able to continue on to the airline’s other popular destinations in the United States and Mexico, among others. With Copa’s new service, the Camilo Daza International Airport serving the city of Cúcuta will once again have international air operations, increasing connectivity in the region.

By December 2021, Copa Airlines’ network in Colombia will consist of the following destinations: Bogota, Cali, Medellin, Barranquilla, Cartagena, Pereira, Bucaramanga, San Andres, Armenia and Cucuta, making it one of the country’s leading international air operators.
