At 1:17 PM local time this Saturday, Cayman Airways’ maiden flight to Tampa, Florida, departed Owen Roberts International Airport in George Town, Grand Cayman. This is the first operation of the route since the start of the pandemic in March 2020.
To celebrate this, the airport’s fire service performed the traditional water arch salute.
Cayman Airways will operate one flight per week, departing from George Town on Saturdays at 1:30 PM and arriving in Tampa at 4:15 PM local time (after a 1:45 flight), from where it will depart at 5:25 PM, landing in Grand Cayman at 6:10 PM. Flights are operated on Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft with a capacity of 174 passengers. Fares are available from USD 174 per leg.
Cayman Airways’ current network in the United States also includes Miami, Florida, where it operates five weekly flights on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
Currently, entry to the Cayman Islands is restricted to citizens, resident aliens on permanent, temporary or work visas and their immediate family members, children of citizens, and persons twelve years of age or older who have completed the COVID-19 vaccination.
