Lufthansa will resume flights between Frankfurt and Rio de Janeiro on December 12. The airline’s operations to the Brazilian city have been suspended since March 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and its restrictions.
Initially, the carrier was scheduled to return to Galeão Airport with Airbus A340-300s, configured with 279 seats, starting in October. Finally, Lufthansa modified the aircraft on Rio de Janeiro route, as well as the restart date.
The German airline will fly to Rio with Boeing 747-400s, seating 371 passengers. The current flight frequency between Frankfurt and Rio de Janeiro since December remains unchanged.
With this new schedule, Lufthansa will offer 1,113 seats per week on each leg.
