Aeromar to land in Guatemala and Honduras

The Mexican regional airline is taking a further leap in its expansion and will land in Central America with flights to Flores, Guatemala City and San Pedro Sula (SAP).

During the 2021 Tianguis Turístico 2021 held in Yucatán, the Mexican regional airline Aeromar announced that it would operate in Guatemala and Honduras. The airline had been looking forward to flying in Central America for the last decade and for several reasons had not been able to achieve this goal.

According to data obtained by Aviacionline through the Mexican Ministry of Communications and Transportation (SCT), we know that in 2019 the airline transported 521,421 passengers and more than 7,000 tons of cargo in 8,336 air operations between Mexico and Guatemala, turning it into one of the Aztec nation’s main Central American markets.

Notably, it will operate an ATR in Guatemala to offer domestic service to Flores and an international connection to San Pedro Sula.

Guatemala’s General Directorate of Civil Aeronautics indicates that in 2019 between Guatemala and San Pedro Sula, 19,409 passengers were transported, with TAG Airlines being the only airline operating between the two destinations.

Flights to Guatemala City and Flores will be inaugurated on December 1, and to San Pedro Sula on January 8.
