American Airlines plans to open new Admirals Club in Austin

American Airlines will soon commence construction of a new, nearly 1,000-square-foot Admirals Club at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS). The lounge will have a capacity of more than 250 consumers, making it the largest in Austin (AUS). Work on the new club near Gate 14 will begin in 2022.

«Austin has a unique vibrancy with its fascinating combination of technology and the arts. American wants to create a club that reflects that eclectic style and honors the lively music scene,» said Clarissa Sebastian, General Manager of premium customer experience and onboard products.

The new lounge aims to reflect some of the urban cultures of the Texas capital by drawing inspiration from places like Rainey Street, Austin Parks, local art, and music. Consumers can get a taste of Austin’s ambiance throughout their Admirals Club experience. Once opened, customers will also be entertained by local musicians.

«The new Admirals Club reinforces the investments made by American Airlines at AUS and will provide an elevated experience for travelers that will reflect the culture, music, and art that both locals and visitors love about Austin,» said Jaqueline Yaft, Executive Director of Bergstrom Airport (AUS).

The existing Admirals Club will remain in operation while the new Admirals Club is under construction.

American Airlines has 60 Admirals Clubs around the world, and both the company’s customers and Oneworld members can make use of lounges that include the amenities of Wi-Fi service, beverages, meals, and digital magazines, among others.

American Airlines is the largest airline in Texas and the new lounge construction is evidence of its commitment to Austin, an airport that has seen exponential growth. American has added more than 25 non-stop routes from Austin (AUS) including domestic and international destinations. Additionally, Alaska Airlines and JetBlue have strengthened their operations and British Airways resumed transatlantic operations.
