After the impact of the pandemic and the severe government restrictions that only in October allowed the reinstatement of routes from other countries, the Argentine interior continues to carry out the process of rebuilding its international connectivity.
INPROTUR’s president, Ricardo Sosa, announced this Thursday 2, that after holding a meeting in Panama with Pablo De la Guardia, Director of Government Relations of Copa Airlines, and the Argentine ambassador in that country, Marcelo Lucca, it was agreed the return of the company’s flights to Rosario as of February 2022, and also the intention to do the same with Salta in August.
«This is wonderful news for the people of Salta and the result of the work we have been carrying out jointly from the province with the Ministry of Tourism of the Nation and Inprotur», said Gustavo Sáenz, Governor of Salta, emphasizing the impact this will have on the whole of the Argentine Northwest.
In addition, Copa Airlines resumed flights between Panama and Mendoza, the third destination in Argentina after Buenos Aires and Cordoba.
Before the outbreak of the pandemic, Copa Airlines operated a daily flight in Rosario and two weekly flights in Salta, having transported 97,000 and 20,000 passengers respectively in 2019. This offer was complemented by 21 weekly flights to Buenos Aires, four to Mendoza, and one daily to Cordoba, an offer that had already been affected by the devaluation of the peso in mid-2018 and the later recession.
Nowadays, the airline has five weekly frequencies to Cordoba, three to Mendoza and ten to Buenos Aires.
