Brazilian airline group owner Itapemirim gave an interview to Estadão in which he blames his staff for the suspension of operations.
According to businessman Sidnei Piva, Itapemirim Transportes Aéreos (ITA) has no other problems and stopped flying only because its check-in staff, all outsourced, abandoned their jobs, leaving the company with no time to hire new agents.
Rubens Filho, President of WFS Orbital, the company contracted by Itapemirim to provide the service at some airports and quoted by Piva in the interview, stated that all of this is a lie and that his company continues to operate, even without the expectation of receiving payment from Itapemirim.
According to what was reported by our Brazilian partner Aeroin, Piva also denied that there are employees with unpaid salaries and said that they are not receiving their salaries by their own decision.
However, in contradiction to what Piva says, his company was recently notified by the National Aeronautics Union (SNA), following delays in the payment of salaries, the lack of FGTS deposit, and the cutback of social works.
Furthermore, his own company issued a note at the beginning of December in which it promised to pay them back wages of the personnel.
He also explained that it will resume operations and that they have investors interested in the business. In addition, he confirmed that the Arab contribution never arrived there and that the whole operation is supported by the authorizations given by the judicial power in the recovery of his group, affirming that all the company’s investments were authorized.
