Sarpa began operations in the country on Wednesday, December 15, with a flight between Rionegro, the airline’s hub, and Rioacha, with its two Embraer 145 aircraft with a capacity for 50 passengers.
The airline, which has more than 40 years of experience in charter and air ambulance services, offers six routes from Rionegro to Riohacha, Villavicencio, Pasto, Valledupar, Aruba, and Curacao on direct flights, the company’s main differentiating factor.
In addition to this, Sarpa has permission to operate another 21 routes, which will begin to operate gradually.
Carlos Andrés Mesa, President of the airline, affirmed «This is great news for the connectivity and economic reactivation of the country. Sarpa is launching routes from Medellín to Riohacha, Villavicencio, Pasto, Valledupar, Aruba, and Curacao in a direct and simple way so that we can continue flying through Colombian skies».
The airline expects to carry around 150 thousand passengers in 2022 and to achieve a reduction of between 20 % and 30 % in ticket costs gradually, at the moment prices are around US$ 125 for international routes and US$ 45 for domestic routes.
