United Airlines moves operations to Palmerola

After the inauguration of Palmerola International Airport (XPL) last Saturday, United Airlines confirmed that as of today it will move its operations between Houston and Tegucigalpa to Palmerola, as Toncontin Airport will be dedicated exclusively to regional flights.

Flight Itinerary:

  • Houston – Comayagua Flight UA3048 IAH 09:50 – XPL 12:56 daily flights operated in Boeing 757-200.
  • Comayagua – Houston Flight UA3011 XPL 14:10 – IAH 17:13 daily flights operated by Boeing 757-200.

Passengers with booked travel will be automatically re-accommodated at the new Palmerola Airport (XKP). United will compete on this route with ultra-low-cost carrier Spirit, which offers daily flights.

United Airlines is one of the leading international carriers in Honduras, offering three destinations in the Central American country from four airports in the United States. The current operation is as follows:

  • Houston (IAH) – San Pedro Sula (SAP) two daily flights on Boeing 757-200 and Boeing 737-800 Next Generation.
  • Newark (EWR) – San Pedro Sula (SAP) three weekly flights on Boeing 737 Next Generation.
  • Los Angeles (LAX) – San Pedro Sula (SAP) three weekly flights in Boeing 737-800 Next Generation.
  • Houston (IAH) – Roatán (RTB) daily flights in Boeing 737-800 Next Generation.
  • Denver (DEN) – Roatán (RTB) starts on December 18, 2021, with 15one weekly flight on Boeing 737-800 Next Generation.
