Viva lands in the Dominican Republic

Viva to Cali and Cancun

Viva announced that it will fly to Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ) in the Dominican Republic, marking the airline’s landing in the country.

The new route from Medellín/Río Negro (MDE) will be inaugurated on March 18, 2022, with four weekly flights on Airbus A320neo, offering 1,504 seats per week. According to VIVA, it expects to transport more than 51,000 passengers on that link.

The announcement of this new route to Punta Cana reinforces our international expansion plan and strengthens our market share. We are continuing with our goal of boosting the air sector in the region and promoting tourism, today our network of connections increases to 34 domestic and 10 international routes, giving more passengers the opportunity to fly to the best destinations and with the best punctuality in the country,» said Felix Antelo, CEO of Grupo Viva.

In addition, through VIVA’s new hub at José María Córdova International Airport, travelers coming from Lima (LIM) in Peru, Cartagena (CTG), Santa Marta (SMR), San Andrés Islands (ADZ), Cali (CLO), Montería (MTR), Barranquilla (BAQ), Cúcuta (CUC) and Bucaramanga (BGA) will be able to connect to the new destination.

.For VIVA, this is the sixth route it will have in Medellín, where it currently connects with Miami (MIA) and Orlando (MCO) in the United States; Mexico City (MEX) and Cancun (CUN) in Mexico and Lima (LIM) in Peru.

The company has requested almost 100 routes from Colombia, including Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Puerto Rico, Panama, and several additional destinations in the United States.
