American Airlines strengthens codeshare agreements with Aer Lingus and SriLankan Airlines

American Airlines reinforces codeshare agreements with several of its alliance partners including Aer Lingus and SriLankan Airlines, strengthening its global network and offering customers more travel options.

More options for travel between the U.S. and Ireland

American Airlines and Aer Lingus have launched a new codeshare agreement to facilitate travel options between the United States and Europe.

American will place its code (AA) on Aer Lingus flights between Dublin (DUB) and London Heathrow (LHR).

Customers can now book codeshare flights from the Irish capital to Amsterdam (AMS), Birmingham (BHX), London Gatwick (LGW) and Manchester (MAN); and from Heathrow (LHR) to Belfast (BHD), Cork (ORK) and Shannon (SNN).

«We are pleased to extend our relationship with our new joint business partner. Aer Lingus with this codeshare agreement,» said Anmol Bhargava, American’s Vice President of Alliances.

In addition, Aer Lingus customers will be able to book American codeshare travel from Chicago O’ Hare (ORD) to Albuquerque (ABQ), Nashville (BNA), Dallas / Fort Worth (DFW), Los Angeles (LAX), San Francisco (SFO), San Jose, California (SJC) and Tucson (TUS).

Further codeshare expansion is also planned for the future

«After nearly two years of restricted travel, we know that demand for dream vacations, business travel, and re-connecting families and friends in 2022 and beyond will be stronger than ever,» said Reid Moody, Aer Lingus’ Chief Strategy and Planning Officer.

In 2021, Aer Lingus joined the Atlantic Joint Business (AJB) between American, British Airways, Iberia, and Finnair. The ABJ has brought significant benefits to the airline such as lower fares and better-scheduled travel.
