Emirates Airlines has announced that as part of its network recovery process and following the spike of the Omicron variant, it will resume scheduled flights to five countries on the African continent this week.
On January 29, Emirates will start operating one flight per day between Dubai and Johannesburg, South Africa, which will increase to two per day from February 1, using Airbus A380 aircraft. On February 1, it will also resume daily services to Cape Town and Durban, both to be operated with Boeing 777-300ER aircraft.
Emirates will also resume operations to Nairobi, Kenya, from January 29, offering ten weekly flights departing Dubai on Sundays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays on Boeing 777-300ER aircraft.
On January 30, it will restart flights to Addis Ababa, Dar Es Salaam and Lusaka. To the Ethiopian capital, it will operate a daily flight, while Tanzania will have five weekly flights departing from Dubai on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. In the case of Lusaka, Emirates will operate six flights a week on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. These three destinations will be operated on Boeing 777-300ER aircraft.
According to information obtained by Aviacionline from Cirium, Emirates’ presence in Africa will cover 23 cities in 19 countries, offering 74,785 seats and 185 weekly flights in each direction in February, according to information obtained by Aviacionline from Cirium. This represents a 54.2% growth in seat supply versus January this year and 50.4% growth in flight supply, but still 22% (in seats and flights) below February 2020, prior to the outbreak of the pandemic.
Emirates noted that all passengers traveling from Africa to Dubai as their final destination must show a PCR test performed within 48 hours, with a certificate that displays a QR code and has been conducted at an approved center. Upon arrival in Dubai, they will be subjected to another PCR test and must remain in isolation until the results are received. Passengers only transiting Dubai must comply with the requirements of their country of final destination.
Quiero y exijo mi estorno del tramo Gru a Bs-As. Que no fue realizado. Y La aerolínea Ethiopian no son formales. Se hacen los olvidados. Y son 2 pasajeros: mi esposo y yo. Quiero mi plata. Pésimo rendimiento, pésima aerolínea y pésima experiencia. Nunca más y no es recomendable.
