Skytrax performs the worldwide star rating of airports and is a global benchmark of quality assessment for the aviation industry.

Air terminals are rated between a 1 and 5-star level following a detailed audit analysis of the facilities and staff service provided to customers in all front-line areas of the airport environment.

The city of Houston now has the only 5-star rated airport in the entire state of Texas and the United States, William P. Hobby (HOU).

«This is a unique and much-deserved distinction for the City of Houston and our airport system,» says Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner.

«Hobby Airport is among the best in the world and this rating demonstrates that being committed to world-class service is a tremendous benefit to Houston and the entire region» added Turner.

Hobby Airport excelled in all 29 rating categories, achieving the coveted 5-star rating. The international rating organization also highlighted the ‘wide range of substantial improvements to the guest experience in the terminal’s interiors, passenger facilities, and customer service initiatives.

The new developments include a children’s play area, state-of-the-art restroom facilities, modern signage and information systems, a prayer room, and a new stage for live musical performances, among others. Hobby Airport becomes one of only 16 5-star airports in the world.

«The entire Houston Airports team worked tirelessly to achieve this milestone at Hobby Airport,» said Director of Aviation Mario Diaz.

«Providing the highest quality of customer service, exceptional amenities and state-of-the-art facilities earned us 5 stars at Hobby and an upgraded 4-star rating at Bush Airport, and now we owe it to our passengers to continue to deliver excellence at every step of the airport experience.» he completed.

George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH), maintained its 4-star rating for the fifth consecutive time and steadily improved its score in all rating categories.

Construction continues to move forward on the international terminal redevelopment program, which will support efforts to achieve the ultimate goal of Houston being home to not just one, but 2 5-star rated airports.

«From your home to ours, we are committed to providing our customers with a 5-star airport experience that demonstrates world-class service, modern facilities, and uniquely ‘Houston-friendly’ hospitality, first and foremost» stated Diaz.

«That is the promise of Houston Airports’ guest experience brand, a promise that our team members endeavor to keep every day at Bush and Hobby airports» finally closed the Director of Aviation.
