On the sidelines of the Singapore Air Show, Airbus announced that agreements made by Aviation Capital Group (ACG) and Jaazera Airways in 2021 were converted to firm orders, totaling some 48 agreed aircraft.

Kuwait-based Jazeera Airways has signed an order for 28 aircraft. It includes 20 A320neo and eight A321neo. The order confirms the Memorandum of Understanding announced in November 2021 during the Dubai Air Show.

“We are pleased to confirm this latest order with Airbus,” said Rohit Ramachandran, chief executive officer of Jazeera Airways. “By taking the A320neo and A321neo versions we will have great flexibility to extend our network to medium and long-haul destinations from Kuwait, offering passengers more options to travel to and enjoy both popular and underserved destinations.”

Separately, Tokyo Century Corporation-owned lessor Aviation Capital Group (ACG) has signed a firm contract for 20 A220s following its order for 40 A320neo family aircraft, including five A321XLRs, announced in December 2021.

“We are delighted to expand our partnership with Airbus through this A220 order,” said Steven C. Udvar-Hazy, ACG’s senior vice president of OEM relations and market development. “Our airline customers will appreciate the A220’s environmental friendliness, passenger comfort and competitive operating economics.”

“This order of 20 A220s from Tokyo Century’s Aviation Capital Group reflects the aircraft’s potential as a sound investment. This includes investors based in the Asia Pacific region,” said Christian Scherer, chief commercial officer and director of Airbus International.

The latest model mentioned will expand its portfolio offering to potential customers who want a narrow-body aircraft for long-range routes. In Latin America, ACG counts Avianca, JetSMART, LATAM, VivaAerobus, VIVA Air Colombia, and Volaris as customers for the family.

With this order, ACG supports Airbus’ recently launched multi-million ESG fund initiative that will contribute to investment in sustainable aviation development projects.
