Tammy Reynoso, vice president of Dominican Tourism Development, ratified the closing of negotiations with British Airways to start operations to Puerto Plata (POP) in October 2022, with an investment of USD 400,000 from the Ministry of Tourism (Mitur), according to DominicanToday.

Because of the tourist character of Puerto Plata (POP) could be operated in the same way from the second main London airport. This is the main base of British Airways for its leisure flights, for the boreal winter season the company could increase its offer to two destinations in the Caribbean island.
According to data obtained by Aviacionline through Civil Authority Aviation UK (CAA), Dominican Republic is the third largest UK market in the Caribbean. In 2019 a total of 316,473 passengers were mobilized between both nations.
