The conflict that erupted in Europe following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, has led to a series of economic sanctions on the Eurasian giant. Delta Air Lines announced today the suspension “effective immediately” of its codeshare agreement with Aeroflot.

“We have removed our code from services operated by Aeroflot beyond Moscow Sheremetyevo Airport. We also removed Aeroflot’s code from services operated from Los Angeles and New York-JFK,” the airline said in a statement.

Passengers affected by the changes will be re-accommodated appropriately.

Delta Air Lines does not operate scheduled flights to Russia. However, Aeroflot does have services from Moscow (SVO) to New York-JFK (twelve weekly flights), Los Angeles (nine weekly flights), and Miami (three weekly flights), totaling 11,204 seats per week between the United States and Russia, according to information obtained by Aviacionline through Cirium.

In the Americas, Aeroflot also has codeshare agreements with Aerolíneas Argentinas and Aeroméxico, in addition to being part of the SkyTeam alliance.
