The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has just issued Notices to Air Missions (NOTAMs) that extend the previous prohibition for US airlines and US pilots to operate in certain parts of Ukrainian airspace to now cover Ukraine’s entire airspace, the entire country of Belarus and a western portion of Russia.
These restrictions will not apply to military operations, as per the FAA statement. Prior to this NOTAM, the operational restriction only covered western areas of Ukraine airspace.
For now, there are no decisions on banning Russian operators on US airspace. The United Kingdom banned Aeroflot to operate in its airspace a few hours ago. Aeroflot flies four long-haul routes to the United States: JFK, LAX, MIA, and IAD.
This is a developing story.
