Air Transat, Canada’s leading leisure airline, and Porter Airlines have signed a codeshare agreement that will run through the 2022 summer season.
The first phase of the agreement will connect Porter Airlines’ hubs in Halifax (YHZ) and Toronto – Billy Shop (YTZ) with Air Transat’s main hub in Montreal – Trudeau (YUL). This will provide customers of both carriers with greater connectivity from Canada, the United States, the Caribbean, and Europe.
«We are very excited to partner with Porter on an important partnership that will contribute to the strengthening of our network and reinforce our leadership in our core markets,» said Annick Guérard, Transat’s President and CEO.
«This codeshare agreement with Air Transat nicely complements our own growth plans,» said Michael Deluce, president and chief executive officer of Porter Airlines.
Each airline will market, under its own code and license, flights operated by the other partner. This will allow customers to combine flight segments on a single ticket and check their baggage only once.
Porter will carry its code on Air Transat-operated flights to and from Montreal (YUL) in the following cities:
- 11 European destinations: Athens, Barcelona, Brussels, Lisbon, London, Lyon, Madrid, Paris, Porto, Toulouse, and Venice
- 5 U.S. destinations: Fort Lauderdale, Los Angeles, Miami, Orlando, and San Francisco
- 13 destinations in Mexico and the Caribbean: Cancun , Cayo Coco , Holguin, La Romana, Montego Bay , Puerto Principe , Puerto Plata , Puerto Vallarta , Punta Cana , Roatan, Samana, Santa Clara and Varadero
- 2 domestic destinations: Calgary and Vancouver.
Air Transat will put its code on Porter’s flights to and from Toronto – Billy Bishop (YTZ) and Halifax (YHZ), connecting to all of the above destinations at Montreal (YUL).
These are the current expectations of the parties and final routes remain subject to obtaining all necessary regulatory approvals. Following such approvals, the agreement is expected to be implemented in the summer of 2022.
