Airstream announced that it has received the exclusive mandate to sell an E170-100LR, on behalf of Satena SA, Colombia.

The aircraft was manufactured in December 2006, with the manufacturer’s serial number 17000151. It had as sole operator the Colombian company and is configured for 76 passengers, with registration HK-4528, and Colombian Air Force (FAC) number 1180.

The last two years the aircraft operated from Bogota to Arauca (AUC), Corozal (CZU), Ipiales, Medellin (EOH), Mitu (MVP), Puerto Carreño (PCR), Puerto Inirida (PDA); and from Villavicencio (VVC) to Mitu (MVP), Puerto Inirida (PDA) and Puerto Carreño (PCR). The state-owned company announced that it will stop using the Embraer 170 in October 2020, to replace them definitively with ATR 72 aircraft, which are more suitable for the company’s operations. Since then, the HK-4528 has been stored at El Dorado International Airport (BOG).

Airstream will assist SATENA in securing a buyer, as it offers aircraft sales, leasing, and financing services to an international client base that includes airlines, government organizations, lessors, investors, and financial institutions, as well as independent organizations.

The company, in its 33 years, has successfully completed the sale of more than 635 aircraft.

According to data obtained by Aviacionline through Ch-Aviation, the E170 is valued at USD 8,560,000, although Airstream has not given the exact amount agreed with Satena.

A brief history of the Embraer E170

It is the smallest and least manufactured model of Embraer’s E-Jets family, of which 196 aircraft were produced. It entered commercial service in March 2004. As of 2017, the E170 is virtually out of production and competes directly with the Bombardier CRJ700 and the Bombardier Q400 turboprop.

The aircraft is powered by General Electric CF34-8E engines of 14,200 lb (62.28 kN) thrust each.

LOT Polish Airlines was the model’s launch customer, followed by Alitalia and US Airways – the MidAtlantic Airways subsidiary. LOT operated the first commercial E-jet flight on March 17, 2004, from Warsaw to Vienna.

Currently, Republic Airways is the largest operator of the model with 62 aircraft, which are used on behalf of Delta Airlines and United Airlines.

Other airlines operating the model are Japan Airlines/J-Air (18), S7 Airlines (17), Air France/HOP! (15), Envoy Air (8), LOT Polish Airlines (6), Air North (4), Aurora Airlines Anguilla (4), Airlink (3), Fuji Dream Airlines (3), Petro Air (3), Jasmin Airlines (2), Air Botswana (1) and People’s (1).
