Delta Air Lines continues to renew its fleet with new state-of-the-art narrowbody aircraft. The Atlanta-based carrier took delivery of its first Airbus A321neo, this new model will be based at its Boston (BOS) hub by spring.
«The delivery of our first A321neo helps usher in Delta’s next era of premium domestic service,» said Mahendra Nair, Delta’s senior vice president of fleet and supply chain technology operations.
«Not only do these aircraft offer the best customer experience in the industry. These fuel-efficient aircraft further demonstrate our commitment to a more sustainable future» added Nair.
Fleet expansion:
The airline expects to take delivery of a total of 26 A321neo this year, with a total of 155 units to be delivered through 2027. With this new generation of aircraft, the company will begin replacing older, less fuel-efficient narrowbody models.
«By adding Airbus’ latest and largest single-aisle aircraft to its fleet, the Delta Air Lines team continues to demonstrate a priority for operational efficiency while delighting its customers with the most spacious single-aisle cabin in the sky,» said Christian Scherer, Airbus Chief Commercial Officer.
Delta’s new fleet of aircraft positions the airline as an industry leader in environmental sustainability while connecting the world. The company’s A321neo will be powered by Pratt & Whitney GTF engines. These ones offer 20% greater fuel efficiency than the A321ceo’s the airline has in its fleet.
«Delta has been a leader in the aviation industry for nearly 100 years, and today we celebrate another milestone along with the delivery of its first A321neo aircraft,» said Rick Deurloo, Chief Commercial Officer, Pratt & Whitney.
«The GTF-powered A321neo joins more than 200 Pratt & Whitney-powered aircraft in Delta’s fleet today» added Deurloo.
The new aircraft will have a seating capacity of 194 seats in three classes as follows: 20 Domestic First Class seats, 42 seats in Delta Comfort+, and 132 seats in Main Cabin.
Delta will introduce a new Domestic First Class product with enhanced privacy, work, and storage space. In addition, all passengers will be able to enjoy the airline’s in-seat entertainment system, spacious overhead bins, fast streaming Wi-Fi access, and USB ports.
