JetBlue and Qatar Airways announced the expansion of their strategic partnership, which will include codeshare agreements in new markets and enhanced frequent flyer benefits. The two airlines have been partners since 2011.

Currently, the Qatari airline is one of the leading alternatives for connectivity between the Americas and its own global network of destinations in 82 countries. The new agreement will include more codeshare route marketing on JetBlue flights to its more than 100 destinations.

Customers of TrueBlue and Privilege Club, the frequent flyer programs of both carriers, will expand their point redemption possibilities on either carrier.

In addition, JetBlue and Qatar Airways plan to develop an integrated transfer option to facilitate connecting passengers in New York (JFK), JetBlue’s home base, and Qatar Airways’ main US destination.

Robin Hayes, JetBlue’s CEO, welcomed the new agreements, saying that “for more than a decade, Qatar Airways has been an excellent partner, consistently delivering an elevated customer experience that aligns very well with the JetBlue brand”. “The enhancements and growth plans announced today will put Qatar Airways on track to be our largest internationally-based partner”, he added.

For his part, Akbar Al Baker, CEO of Qatar Airways Group, stressed that the new agreements are “a further encouraging sign for the recovery of the aviation sector”. “We are focused on growing our partnerships with leading airlines such as JetBlue. Hence bringing significant benefits to our passengers through an expanded global network”, he concluded.
