Canadian startup Lynx Air has announced a major expansion from Toronto to four new destinations and five new routes, continuing its mission to offer affordable fares to and from Canada.
Canadians will have the option to fly Lynx from Pearson Airport (YYZ) and Halminton – Munro Airport (YHM) to six in-country destinations including Halifax (YHZ), St. John (YYT), Winnipeg (YWG), Calgary (YYC), Edmonton (YEG) and Vancouver (YVR).
To celebrate these new announcements, the low-cost airline will hold a contest through its social networks on Facebook or Instagram for a free flight from Toronto to a domestic destination of the contestant’s choice, this event will be available until March 20.
New routes
- Toronto Pearson (YYZ) – Halifax (YHZ): three flights per week, starting June 2022 and increasing to five per week starting July 30, 2022.
- Toronto Pearson (YYZ) – St. John’s (YYT): two flights per week beginning June 28, 2022, and increasing to daily flights beginning July 28, 2022.
- Toronto Pearson (YYZ) – Edmonton (YEG): seven flights per week beginning July 28, 2022.
- Hamilton (YHM) – Calgary (YYC): two flights per week beginning June 29, 2022, and increasing to four flights per week beginning July 29, 2022.
- Hamilton (YHM) – Halifax (YHZ): two flights per week beginning June 29, 2022.
- Toronto Pearson (YYZ) – Calgary (YYC): service increases from daily flights to 12 times per week beginning June 29.
«We are excited to announce this major expansion of our network, providing Toronto residents with more choice and competition as they seek to reconnect with loved ones and rediscover this beautiful country. By the end of July, we will be flying 92 flights per week in and out of the Toronto area, which is more than 17,000 seats per week,» said Merren McArthur, CEO of Lynx.
Lynx expects to inaugurate operations on April 7, 2022, with daily service between Calgary (YYC) and Vancouver (YVR). It expects to increase this route to two daily flights beginning May 20, 2022. From Toronto (YYZ) it will begin operations from April 11.
More new aircraft to the fleet
BOC Aviation Limited agreed with Lynx Air to lease 11 new Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft on a long-term contract. These aircraft will be powered by CFM LEAP – 1B engines and are scheduled for delivery in 2023 and 2024.
