Qatar resumes flights to London Gatwick

QATAR

Qatar Airways will resume services to London Gatwick (LGW) from June 5, 2022, with daily flights operated on Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner configured with 22 seats in Business Class and 232 seats in Economy Class.

With its return, the airline will offer operations to the UK’s second busiest airport. Passengers flying from Gatwick (LGW) to Doha (DOH) will be able to connect through Qatar Airways’ 150-strong global network of popular destinations in the Middle East, Africa, Asia, and Australasia.

This service complements the flight of its Joint Venture partner, British Airways. This one currently operates daily Boeing 777-200ER flights, expanding the travel options between London and Doha, offering frequent flyers more ways to earn Avios.

Data obtained by Aviacionline through Civil Authority Aviation UK (CAA), 372,378 passengers were mobilized between Doha (DOH) and London Gatwick (LGW) in 2019.

«Our commitment to the UK market has been unwavering. We operated continuously and reliably throughout the pandemic. Therefore I am pleased to be able to resume our popular service to London Gatwick» said Akbar Al Baker, Qatar Airways Chief Executive Officer.

«This year is very special for us, especially as it is the 25th anniversary of the start of our flights to London Heathrow in March 1997» Al Baker added.

  • London Heathrow (LHR) has five daily flights on Airbus A380s and Boeing 777-300ERs offering 14,672 seats per week.
  • Edinburgh (EDI) daily flights on Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner with 1,778 seats per week.
  • Manchester (MAN) 18 weekly frequencies in Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner with a supply of 4,572 seats per week.
  • London Gatwick (LGW) has two daily flights, one operated by Qatar Airways on Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner and the other by British Airways on Boeing 777-200ER, between the two airlines will offer 4,130 seats per week.

Data compiled by Aviacionline through CAA, prior to the pandemic, 2,451,924 passengers flew between the UK and Qatar.
