Air Europa will continue its expansion phase in April, which includes the acquisition of new aircraft and an increase in the range of destinations from its hub at Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas International Airport (MAD). It expects to exceed occupancy levels by 5% compared to 2019 during the second half of this year.

The company plans to increase the number of seats offered on its main routes from its hub at the capital’s airport during the second half of 2022. To achieve this goal, it will take delivery of new aircraft: five will be Boeing 787 Dreamliners, four of which are the result of the recent sublease agreement with Norse Atlantic Airways.

The expansion of the fleet of this aircraft type will strengthen its offering in the intercontinental market. It will be the same as in 2019 and will allow it to reach a total of 23 destinations in the Americas this year. Air Europa highlights its commitment to a homogeneous long-range fleet made up of more efficient aircraft in terms of fuel consumption and environmental impact.

As part of the progressive global recovery of the industry and the demand for air travel, the company increased its activity in recent months and obtained a positive balance, especially in the international market.

The short and medium-haul fleet will also be reinforced with the incorporation of six new Boeing 737-800s. Air Europa plans to operate 33 routes in Spain and Europe this year. In this way, the company will consolidate the unification of its fleet, with the consequent optimization of operations and customer service.
