FIDAE 2022: Boliviana de Aviación confirms order for three Airbus A330-200s

In a ceremony held a few moments ago at the International Air and Space Fair (FIDAE – Feria Internacional del Aire y el Espacio – with its Spanish name) in Santiago de Chile, Boliviana de Aviación signed an agreement with Airbus to renew its long-haul fleet with 3 A330-200s. The aircraft will have a special cabin configuration and a maximum take-off weight (MTOW) of 238 tons.

As anticipated in March, the three aircraft will be delivered between July and August of this year, to enter service in October with flights to Miami (MIA) and Madrid (MAD).

“This is an important day for Boliviana de Aviación and for the Bolivian community as a whole,” said Arturo Barreira, Airbus Director for the region. “The A330 is the ideal aircraft for BoA. It is one of the most efficient platforms on the market,” he added.

Ronald Casso, president of Boliviana de Aviación, said that “for BoA, [the signing of the contract] is the closure of intense work, and I must highlight the openness and clarity of Airbus throughout the process.” “I want to thank the Airbus team for the special commitment we have felt to approach us and support us. Because of this, we dare to dream further and stronger,” he concluded.

Currently, the airline’s international destinations include flights to Buenos Aires/Ezeiza (EZE), Argentina; Sao Paulo (GRU), Brazil; Miami (MIA), United States; Madrid (MAD), Spain; and Lima (LIM), Peru. The company plans to open new routes in the future, some of them to the Caribbean.
