After several months of speculation, Norse Atlantic Airways has launched its Europe-U.S. flights at very low fares.
The Norwegian low-cost carrier will inaugurate operations on June 14, connecting Oslo-Gardemoen (OSL), Norway, with John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), New York (JFK), initially with three flights a week and from July 4 it will move to a daily frequency. Fort Lauderdale (FLL) will follow on June 18 with three weekly flights.
By July 5 it will land in Orlando (MCO) and on August 9 in Los Angeles (LAX), both destinations with three weekly flights.
Schedules and low-cost fares
All flights will be operated on its Boeing 787-9s, maintaining the 56-seat premium and 309-seat economy configuration of its predecessor Norwegian Long Haul.
The light fare is remarkably low for a transatlantic flight but only includes a 5 kg backpack. Add-ons range from 10 kg cabin baggage at $25, hold baggage from $60 to $75, seat pre-selection from $35 to $120, and in-flight meals from $20 to $35.
Higher economy and premium fares will add free extras according to the category chosen.
The aircraft will have in-flight entertainment screens and power outlets (USB and AC) in both classes, although there is no mention of WiFi service.

About Norse Atlantic
Norse Atlantic will have an exclusive fleet of 15 Boeing 787 Dreamliners securing eight of the -9 variant with BOC Aviation Limited; while with AerCap it signed for six 787-9s and three 787-8s.
The first nine of eleven aircraft to be delivered in 2022 already have Norwegian registration plates.
However, the Norwegian firm will deliver two Boeing 787-8s and two 787-9s to Air Europa under wet-leasing, to generate revenue from aircraft it does not expect to fully utilize in its first stage of operations.
The company will start cautiously and add capacity according to demand. In March they secured slots at London/Gatwick (LGW) and plan to add other European destinations, such as Paris, as soon as the market situation allows.
During the last few months, Norse Atlantic has begun the process of recruiting pilots, cabin crew, and maintenance personnel, among others, planning a headcount of over 1,600 employees and has selected Fort Lauderdale, Florida as the company’s U.S. headquarters.
