Air Canada resumed flights to Milan Malpensa

On May 20, Air Canada resumed flights to Milan (MXP), the carrier’s third destination in Italy, operations will be operated from Toronto (YYZ) with a stopover in Montreal (YUL). The airline’s last operation in Lombardy was on October 26, 2019.

Flight AC 894 took off from Pierre Elliot Trudeau International Airport (YUL) at 23:44 local time and landed at Malpensa Airport (MXP) at 13:09 the following day, initially the Canadian carrier will offer three weekly flights (Tuesday, Thursday, Friday). Air Canada will be the only carrier to offer year-round non-stop connections between Milan and Canada.

The services will be operated on Airbus A330-300 aircraft with a capacity of 297 seats in three classes with refurbished cabins (32 Business/24 Premium Economy/241 Economy). As of June 18, the route increases to five times per week, with extra flights on Mondays and Wednesdays.

Data compiled by Aviacionline through the Ente Nazionale Per L’Aviazione Civile (ENAC) indicates that 126,803 passengers were mobilized between Canada and Malpensa Airport (MXP) in 2019. Air Canada was the fourth largest North American operator in Italy, transporting a total of 416,196 travelers between the two countries.

According to data obtained by Aviacionline through Cirium, the Canadian flag carrier will have an offer of 17,140 seats per week between Canada and Italy, representing a recovery of 78.58% compared to 2019 levels, in addition the company will offer flights to the three main Italian, the schedule is as follows:

  • Toronto (YYZ) daily flights on Boeing 777-300ER (400 seats).
  • Montreal (YUL) daily flights on Boeing 777-300ER (400 seats).
Milan – Malpensa (MXP)
  • Toronto (YYZ) – Montreal (YUL) five times a week on Airbus A330-300.
Venice (VCE)
  • Toronto (YYZ) three times weekly on Airbus A330-300.
  • Montreal (YUL) twice weekly on Airbus A330-300.
