Virgin Atlantic will resume its non-stop service between London Heathrow (LHR) and Cape Town (CPT) with daily flights on November 5, 2022. This service will be seasonal during the northern winter season and will end on March 24, 2023.
The British airline will offer 7,224 seats per week between the British capital and South Africa during the austral summer, thus restoring its pre-pandemic capacity in this market, the company will offer two destinations to Cape Town (CPT) and Johannesburg (JNB), both of which will be operated every day.

- Cape Town – London Heathrow Flight VS 479 CPT 07:50 – LHR 17:45
Flights will be operated on Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft with 258 seats in three classes (31 Upper Class/35 Premium Economy/Economy). Promotional fares are from GBP 711 in Economy and 3,454 in Upper Class.
South Africa is one of the UK’s top O&D (origin and destination) destinations, with this new service Virgin Atlantic will offer increased travel options for business and leisure passengers to one of the most popular destinations during the northern winter season.
According to data compiled by Aviacionline through the Civil Aviation Authority UK (CAA), 377,938 passengers travelled between London and Cape Town in 2019, making it the second largest market between the UK and South Africa.

«Although a little later than we would have liked due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the move reflects the fact that travel is recovering and global demand for vacations to sunny, premium destinations is returning apace» added Jarvinen.
«We expect a high proportion of leisure travelers on this route who will rightly take advantage of the winter sun, explore world-renowned wine regions and soak up the rich culture this incredible country has to offer,» continued Jarvinen.
