As of July 9, Air New Zealand is restoring 75% of its pre-pandemic domestic and international routes, including the return of international destinations in Hawaii, the South Pacific and North America.

In addition, the New Zealand airline will resume Boeing 777-300ER operations, which will benefit to increase capacity by 40,000 seats per week in July on the international network. According to data obtained by Aviacionline through Cirium, the 777-300ERs are scheduled to fly to Melbourne (MEL) with daily flights and Los Angeles (LAX) three times a week.

«Getting a Boeing 777-300 out of storage in Auckland takes about six to eight weeks to get it ready to fly. We have hired or rehired over 2000 Air New Zealanders across the company, including 150 pilots, over 500 cabin crew passengers and 270 airport staff, with another 1100 vacancies to fill. It’s no easy task, but we’re getting back to where we were so we can provide our customers with that Air New Zealand service they know and love,» said Greg Foran, Air New Zealand’s Chief Executive Officer.

«We are seeing firsthand how eager people are to travel again, particularly through Tasman. In July, we will double our Tasman services and restart popular direct services such as Sunshine Coast, Hobart, and Adelaide. By July 9, we will return to all nine Australian ports, which is a major milestone for us,» Foran added.
