Hawaiian Airlines will resume operations between Honolulu (HNL) and Tokyo Haneda Airport (HND) with daily flights from August 1, after a suspension of 30 months. In addition to the existing services to Osaka – Kansai (KIX) and Tokyo Narita (NRT), for the same date will operate every day.
According to data obtained by Aviacionline through Cirium, starting in August, Hawaiian will offer 11,767 seats per week between Daniel K. Inouye International Airport (HNL) and Japan. The Japanese nation recently reopened tourism for 98 countries by applying certain conditions for travel.
«Japan is the core international market for Hawaiian, and we are excited to bring back more flights and encouraged by the Japanese government’s progressive easing of travel restrictions,» said Theo Panagiotoulias, senior vice president of global sales and alliances for Hawaiian Airlines.
«Demand from Japan has been steady, but we anticipate strong interest in leisure travel in the coming months and look forward to welcoming more visitors safely and responsibly,» Panagiotoulias added.

Hawaiian Airlines August Schedule to Japan
The airline will be serving three non-stop services to Japan and all will be operated on Airbus A330-200 aircraft with a capacity of 278 seats in two classes, flights to Fukuoka (FUK), Sapporo – Chitose (CTS) and Kona (KOA) – Haneda (HND) remain suspended, the company’s schedule for August is as follows:
Tokyo Haneda (HND)
- Flight HA 863 HNL 13:55 – HND 17:10 daily flights.
- Flight HA 864 HND 20:15 – HNL 09:05 daily flights.
Osaka – Kansai (KIX)
- Flight HA 449 HNL 14:50 – KIX 18:45 daily flights.
- Flight HA 450 KIX 20:45 – HNL 10:00 daily flights.
Tokyo Narita (NRT)
- Flight HA 821 HNL 13:00 – NRT 16:20 daily flights.
- Flight HA 822 NRT 19:55 – HNL 08:40 flights daily.
Data compiled by Aviacionline through the U.S. Department of Transportation indicates that in 2019 that between Honolulu (HNL) and Tokyo Narita (NRT) moved 1,642,964 passengers, it was the largest transpacific route and the second largest international route in the U.S.
Earlier this month, Hawaiian launched its Boarding Pass campaign to encourage guests arriving from Japan to support local businesses during their visit to the islands.
