This Wednesday (June 1), Volaris began its first flights between Mexico and Lima, Peru (LIM), the company’s second destination in South America. Flight Y4 432 operated on an Airbus A320neo took off from Cancun Airport (CUN) at 23:43 local time and landed at Jorge Chavez International Airport at 04:47 the following day.
The largest Mexican airline will have an offer of 5,208 seats per week between the Aztec country and the Inca nation, where it will be the second largest airline operator in this segment. The low-cost company will have a 25.5% market share between both countries.

According to data compiled by Aviacionline through the Federal Civil Aviation Agency (AFAC) 712,003 passengers and 7,447.9 tons of cargo were mobilized in 5,158 air operations in 2019 between Mexico City and Lima, the second busiest route from Benito Juarez International Airport (MEX) to South America.
Volaris is the only low-cost airline in this service, where it competes against other legacy carriers such as Aeromexico and LATAM Airlines, the company offers fares from USD 108 each way.
Cancun (CUN) – Lima (LIM)
- Flight Y4 342 CUN 23:45 – LIM 05:01+1 daily flights.
- Flight Y4 343 LIM 06:01 – CUN 11:34 daily flights.
According to data obtained by the AFAC, prior to the pandemic, 435,002 passengers flew between Cancun and the Peruvian capital in 3,029 air operations.
All Volaris flights between Mexico and Cancun will be operated in 186-passenger Airbus A320neo aircraft in a single configuration.
Peru one of Mexico’s largest international markets
Data compiled by the AFAC indicate that for the first quarter of 2022, between Mexico and Peru 185,941 passengers have been mobilized with an occupancy factor in flights above 80%, this represents an increase of 178.3% with respect to the same period in 2021.
A total of 1,205 air operations were recorded between both countries from January to April, an increase of 80.9% compared to the same quarter last year.
