British Airways expands its long-haul network from London Gatwick

British Airways continues to grow from London Gatwick (LGW) by adding services to South Africa, the United States and Canada for the upcoming winter and summer seasons of 2023. Recently, the airline announced new services to the Caribbean and South America from London’s second major airport.

Cape Town (CPT)

For this winter season, British Airways resumes operations to South Africa from Gatwick (LGW) with three weekly flights, this service will complement the two daily flights from Heathrow (LHR), the route will be available from December 13 until March 25, 2023, the schedule is as follows:

  • London Gatwick – Cape Town Flight BA 2041 LGW 20:30 – CPT 10:15+1 Tuesday, Friday and Sunday.
  • Cape Town – London Gatwick Flight BA 2040 CPT 20:10 – LGW 06:15+1 Tuesday, Friday and Sunday.

Prior to the pandemic this route carried 48,642 passengers.

Vancouver (YVR)

This is a new service of the British airline will be the only connection from Canada through Gatwick, prior to pandemic the company offered non-stop services from Toronto (YYZ), this route will start from May 19, 2023, with six weekly flights:

  • London Gatwick – Vancouver Flight BA 2279 LGW 12:00 – YVR 13:55 monday, wednesday, thursday, thursday, friday, saturday and sunday.
  • Vancouver – London Gatwick Flight BA 2278 YVR 15:25 – LGW 08:40+1 monday, wednesday, thursday, thursday, friday, saturday and sunday.

154,191 passengers were mobilized In 2019 on this route; British Airways will compete with Westjet in this segment. The British company also offers flights to Vancouver from London Heathrow (LHR).

Las Vegas (LAS)

The company resumes operations on this route after a 3-year suspension because of the COVID-19 crisis. This service will restart from March 26, 2023, with three weekly flights:

  • London Gatwick – Las Vegas Flight BA 2277 LGW 11:00 – LAS 13:50 Tuesday, Friday and Sunday.
  • Las Vegas – London Gatwick Flight BA 2276 LAS 15:40 – LGW 09:40+1 Tuesday, Friday and Sunday.

Prior to the pandemic this route mobilized 175,567 passengers: the British company will be the only operator in this segment. The airline also offers non-stop flights from the main city of Nevada from London Heathrow (LHR).

Restoration of the long-haul network

British Airways from London Gatwick (LGW) will offer 16 destinations operating year-round and 5 seasonal services including: Antigua (ANU), Aruba (AUA), Cancun (CUN), Doha (DOH), Georgetown (GEO), Grenada (GND), Kingston (KIN) Mauritius (MRU), New York (JFK), Orlando (MCO), Port of Spain (POS), Punta Cana (PUJ), St. Kitts (SKB), St. Lucia (UVF), Tampa (TPA), Tobago (TBA), Cape Town (CPT), Barbados (BGI), Las Vegas (LAS), San Jose de Costa Rica (SJO) and Vancouver (YVR).
