Mammoth Freighters has signed a multi-year contract with Aspire MRO to expand its passenger-to-freighter conversion capability. Under the agreement, Aspire will perform conversion, maintenance, and related work on the company’s 777-200LRMF and 777-300ERMF.

Aspire’s facility covers about 840,000 square feet (78,000 square meters) at Fort Worth Alliance Airport in Texas. It comprised six hangar positions for wide-body aircraft and has 777-specific tooling and work platforms.

David Steinmetz, Senior Vice President of Operations, said, “We at Mammoth are pleased with this partnership with Aspire. They meet all the requirements for servicing our future 777s. In addition, their experienced team -combined with an impressive facility- will create a synergy that will benefit both of us”.

“We continue to concentrate our operations in the U.S., so Aspire was a natural alliance for us,” the executive ended. Mammoth already has additional facilities at Alliance Airport, which are used for warehousing and main cargo gate assembly work, among other things.

The Federal Aviation Administration has not yet approved the company’s conversion program: its Supplemental Type Certificate should be ready in the second half of 2023. However, the 777-200LRMF (Mammoth Freighter) program is at an advanced stage: for example, the tools needed to carry out the work are already being manufactured.

Mammoth will perform conversions on its own and third-party aircraft. It has ten 777-200LRs purchased from Delta, which will be converted and operated on a leasing basis. This is the largest fleet of 777-200LRs in the world.
