Canadian low-cost carrier Flair Airlines announced that it plans to increase its capacity by 50% in the summer of 2023. The airline expects to add seven new aircraft, bringing the total number of airplanes in operation to 27, by the middle of next year.
This fleet increase will allow for an initial schedule that will include frequency increases on 41 of its routes during next year’s summer season. Already 4.2 million seats are available through the airline’s various official sales channels.
“We are looking ahead to another busy summer next year and we have increased our capacity significantly to keep up with increased demand”, said Garth Lund, CCO of Flair Airlines. “Welcoming an additional seven aircraft into our fleet allows us to increase frequencies on our most travelled routes, giving passengers more options”, he added.
According to a company press release, the new aircraft will create about 350 new ground and flight crew jobs at all of its bases in Canada.
More frequencies, more seats
According to data obtained by Aviacionline through the Cirium platform, Flair Airlines scheduled 2.046 flights and offered 386.694 seats in June this year. In July, it scheduled 2.353 flights and offered 448.949 seats, while in August the operation grew to 2.413 flights and 465.409 seats.
According to available data consulted today through the same platform, the company scheduled a total of 3.022 flights and 571.158 seats in June 2023. The figure represents an increase of 47%, both in the number of services and seats available.
In July 2023, the schedule includes 3.286 flights (39% increase over the same month this year) and 621.054 seats (38% more than the seats available in July 2022).
Finally, Flair Airlines plans to operate 3.320 flights during August 2023 and to offer 627.480 seats. Compared to the same month this year, the figures represent an increase of 37% and 35%, respectively.
Among the most notable frequency increases are the route between Vancouver (YVR) and Toronto-Pearson (YYZ), which will have ten additional weekly services and will reach a total of 21 frequencies per week. The route between Calgary (YYC) and Toronto-Pearson (YYZ) will also have 21 weekly connections.
In addition, Flair Airlines will increase its flights between Montreal (YUL) and Toronto-Pearson (YYZ) by eight frequencies per week to a total of twelve. Connections to Deer Lake (YDF) and Nashville (BNA) will also be increased.
In addition, the airline will offer new destinations in Mexico during next year’s summer. In July 2023, Flair Airlines will fly from Vancouver (YVR) to Los Cabos (SJD) and Puerto Vallarta (PVR), on Mexico’s Pacific coast.
