London Heathrow Airport and the airlines operating from there will have to respect the restrictions established for the state funeral of Queen Elizabeth II, to be held at Westminster Abbey, and for the burial, planned for Monday 19 at Windsor Castle.
According to the airport, operations to and from the terminal will be subject to change in order to avoid inconvenience during specific times on Monday. In order to respect such limitations, airlines will have to adjust their schedules, inducing delays and rescheduling.

Affected passengers will be contacted directly by their respective airlines. The airport also noted that it will be adding additional staff to the terminals to assist passengers. In addition, the roads around the airport will be extremely congested. The operator recommends passengers avoid traveling by car and use public transportation instead.
Period of national mourning
From the press room of London Heathrow airport, they pointed out that throughout the period of national mourning – which will last ten days and will run until September 18 – more changes will take place, including:
- A minute’s silence at 8 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 18.
- Screening of the funeral on airport screens on Monday, September 19.
- Closure of non-essential businesses on Monday, September 19.
Airport travel on Monday 19 will be affected by the procession of the coffin to St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle. Roads around Heathrow will be closed for much of the day. The terminal is advising passengers to use alternative routes.
