SATA Azores Airlines in conjunction with the Madeira Promotion Association announce the launch of the service between Funchal (FNC) and New York (JFK) which will be available year-round starting November 3rd with a weekly frequency.
The airline will develop promotional campaigns to reinforce its position in the North American market. For this northern winter season, the airline will offer transatlantic services to Boston (BOS), Toronto (YYZ) and New York (JFK).

Schedule for the 2022/2023 winter season:
- New York – Funchal Flight S4 266 JFK 21:20 – FNC 08:35+1 Thursday.
- Funchal – New York Flight S4 267 FNC 17:05 – JFK 19:55 Friday.
Schedule for the 2023 summer season starting March 26:
- New York – Funchal Flight S4 266 JFK 20:55 – FNC 09:00 Monday.
- Funchal – New York Flight S4 267 FNC 16:00 – JFK 18:50 Tuesday.
The route will be operated on Airbus A321neo aircraft with a capacity of 190 seats in two classes (16 Business Class/174 Economy).
«After performing, for the first time, direct flights between Madeira and JFK Airport, starting in November 2021, we create conditions to continuously expand connections from one station to another, which is important for those who want to travel and for the market, for the confidence it conveys,» said Eduardo Jeses, president of the Madeira Promotion Association.
The first non-stop service between Funchal (FNC) and New York (JFK), in the last boreal winter season, operated between November 29, 2021, until May 14, 2022. During that period, 19 weekly frequencies were operated, and 4,041 passengers were mobilized.
