After more than 2 years, Cathay Pacific resumes flights to Spain

On October 1 and after two and a half years, Cathay Pacific resumes operations to Spain with a non-stop service between Hong Kong (HKG) and Madrid (MAD) with a weekly frequency. The carrier’s last operation to the Spanish capital was on March 17, 2020, the route was suspended in the wake of the pandemic crisis.

Flight CX 315 boarded 280 passengers and was operated on an Airbus A350 registered with the registration B-LRP, the aircraft took off from Hong Kong International Airport (HKG) at 01:14 local time and landed at Adolfo Suarez – Barajas Airport (MAD) at 09:15.

Flight Itinerary

  • Hong Kong – Madrid Flight CX 315 HKG 00:50 – MAD 09:30 Saturday.
  • Madrid – Hong Kong Flight CX 372 MAD 12:20 – HKG 06:55+1 Saturday.

The route will be operated on Airbus A350-900 aircraft with 280 seats in three classes (38 Business Class/28 Premium Economy/214 Economy) and promotional fares are available from EUR 820 each way. The airline has resumed the first non-stop route between Spain and East Asia since the outbreak of the pandemic.

Cathay Pacific passengers flying between Madrid (MAD) and Hong Kong (HKG) will have the opportunity to make convenient connections to the airline’s destinations in Asia, Australia and New Zealand. With the return of the Spanish capital to its international network, the Hong Kong airline will be offering seven European destinations.

According to data obtained by Aviacionline through Aena Estadísticas, Cathay Pacific mobilized in Spain (Madrid and Barcelona) 274,094 passengers and 11,419.15 tons of cargo in 974 air operations in 2019, the fourth largest market for the company in Europe only behind the United Kingdom, Italy and France.
